02. Bio
Started in Applied Mathematics, with a side obsession in ICPC and algorithms. Two years in, I was burned out enough to want a clean break, and ended up behind an espresso machine instead of a whiteboard.
Spent the next stretch learning to tell a washed Ethiopia from a natural Guatemala by the cup — and, somewhere between the grinder and the dishwasher, started missing code. Frontend was the way back in. Visual and immediate enough to pull me in — nuanced and evolving enough to keep me.
Evenings went to JavaScript. By mid-2021 I'd left coffee for frontend full-time; by the end of that year, I had a junior title. A few jobs in, and the choice has aged well. Some mornings I miss the scent of fresh espresso anyway.
